10 Online Marketing Scams in Kenya You Need to Avoid
Many online opportunities may seem lucrative, but unfortunately, some of them are designed to deceive. I’ve discovered several scams currently making the rounds, and I want to help you stay safe. Here are the top 5 scams to watch out for:
1. 24-Hour Forex Investment Programs.
These programs promise to trade your money and deliver profits within 24 hours, with a minimum investment of just $25. However, once you send the money, they disappear—often blocking you entirely.
2. Aviator Bot Sales
Scammers claim to have a bot that guarantees winnings when you play Aviator. They lure you in with the promise of easy money, but in reality, these bots do nothing, and you end up losing your investment.
3. AIM Global/Bonan Vivon
These organization market themselves as NGOs from Asia, claiming to help youth escape poverty. They ask you to purchase an account, often costing around Ksh 29,000, with promises of quick earnings. However, the only way to make money is by recruiting others—a classic pyramid scheme.
4. Make Money Online Sites
These sites promise easy money through watching videos, clicking ads, and answering surveys. However, they charge an activation fee of about Ksh 500, and you can only earn when you invite others to join—another pyramid scheme in disguise.
5. WhatsApp Views Agencies
This scam is particularly deceptive. They claim you can earn Ksh 100 for every view on your WhatsApp status. But first, they require an activation fee. Once you pay, you’ll quickly realize you’ve been scammed, with no way to recover your money.
It’s likely you’ve encountered one or more of these scams. While scams are everywhere, staying informed and cautious is the best way to protect yourself
